Complementary knowledge · Application requirements for surfaces. · Structure and properties of coating materials including metals, metallic alloys, cermets, ceramics, polymers and their composites. Properties of substrate materials and their suitability to different surface engineering processes. · Standards and test procedures for evalaution of properties and quality of coatings and surface treatments. · Industrial processes and applications. Special knowledge · Expertise on coating and surface treatment selection. · Types and properties of precursors and feedstock materials for coating and surface treatment processes. · Knowledge of selected engineering properties of coatings and surface treatments and factors having effects on these. · Specifications used for industrial applications. · Coating properties focusing on wear, friction, corrosion, oxidation, electrical, magnetic and other functional properties.
