Techno-economics of 6G

The seminars offer a multi-disciplinary overview of the subject with contributions from experts in the field. The course is a comprehensive journey from the present, encompassing the ongoing adoption of 5G networks, towards the promising horizon of 6G, aimed at deployment in the 2030s. The seminars go beyond technical advancements; they blend technical with business and regulatory related perspectives, thus providing a holistic view. They discuss technologies’ potential impacts on future digital services, businesses, and society. The narrative also explores how individuals and businesses could benefit from 5G and 6G innovations and delves into the regulatory and policy considerations that come with these advancements.

In particular, upon completion of the course, the student has acquired a deeper understanding of diverse mobile communications phenomena, systems thinking approach, research methods and approaches. The student demonstrates ability to analyze his/her own subject of study and or research in relation to techno-economic disciplines – technology innovations, regulation and business. The six seminars will cover the following themes: 1) The emergence and evolutionary continuum of mobile communications from 1G towards 6G, 2) Future scenarios and anticipated impacts of 6G, 3) Sustainability and 6G mobile communications, 4) Value creation and capture in future mobile communications, 5) Regulatory considerations for 6G, and 6) Implications for the future.
