Introduction to Sustainability in the Bioeconomy D

Description of course content: Basic concepts of sustainability, sustainable development, bioeconomy and circular economy are introduced. Following, the students will identify linkages of these concepts from a value chain perspective considering the source of material all the way to the end-of-life management of the final product. Real examples will be described covering early-stage to established bioproduct industrial processes. Experts in sustainability assessment will be invited to provide guest lectures. Via guided exercises the students will build critical thinking for risks identification and help identify sustainability indicators by brainstorming cases discussed in class.
