PhD-course in Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility (EMI/EMC).
One-week full time, five days participation at least 8 hours/day (8:00 AM – 17:00 PM). Total credits: 5 ECTS Registration fees 2025(Professionals): DKK 6000 (incl. VAT) Registration fees 2025(Student – with a valid student identity): DKK 3000 (incl. VAT)
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is a critical discipline in the design and operation of modern electronic systems, where increasing integration density, faster switching speeds, and complex packaging significantly raise the risk of electromagnetic interference (EMI). Ensuring compliance with international EMC standards has become a foundational requirement in sectors such as automotive, aerospace, telecommunications, medical devices, and industrial electronics. This need is further intensified by the widespread adoption of power electronics, high-speed digital systems, and wireless technologies. As traditional design margins shrink, engineers and researchers must adopt rigorous modeling, simulation, and test methodologies. This course equips PhD students with advanced theoretical foundations and practical competencies to analyze, simulate, and mitigate EMC problems, while also interpreting global regulatory requirements and integrating EMC principles into robust system design. International experts from academia and industry will update students on the latest developments, challenges, and emerging directions shaping the field.
Different topics to be covered in this course are:
By the end of this course, PhD students will be able to:
A mixture of lectures and hands-on simulations. Moreover, hardware and testing demonstrations will be conducted to show practical troubleshooting and debugging techniques.
Venue: University of Southern Denmark, Sønderborg Campus. Period: Held every year. For 2025, it will be held on 4-8 August 2025. Time: 8:00-16:00 For information on the exact time and place and how to sign up check here: https://event.sdu.dk/emcsummerschool2025/conference
An oral exam will be held by me and an internal censor from SDU. This exam is supposed to cover all topics of the 5-days course. The organizers will assign 5 ECTS credits on a pass/fail basis.
